Being innovative is what will help us get through these difficult times.
Opening Mainstream Real Estate Company has been an experience in itself, nevermind opening in the midst of a global pandemic! When we first opened our doors on June 4, 2020 we didn’t know what to expect or what the next precautionary measure we would need to make. We have worn our face coverings, gloves, booties and have abided by all Maine and CDC guidelines. Being innovative and thinking outside the box has been huge in our day to day operations. From adding an air purifier to our office, to creating video tours of listings, and utilizing hands free open houses, we have tried to think of everything when it comes to safely and successfully selling real estate.
Learning to pivot has been imperative to business. As the market continues to climb we have had to think of any and every way we can keep our agents and clients safe. We have tried to host open houses as a way to eliminate multiple visits to our client’s homes and limit the number of times our clients need to deep clean their homes. We have utilized hands free scan stations at these open houses to obtain contact information and provide paperless disclosures. It’s the small changes we have made that really can help add up to help the greater good.
With interest rates so low, inventory low, and the demand so high it has left southern Maine in a very interesting market. The pandemic has caused city dwellers to migrate to the great state of Maine for second homes, many of which being cash buyers. With a lot of the country working from home, it is virtually possible to work from anywhere which has allowed people to make the move. We have also seen an uptick in those families purchasing home sight unseen. According to the National Association of Realtors, this statistic is currently 5% which is up from the 3% doing so pre-pandemic. We have found new approaches to our real estate transactions which has been an interesting change from our normal day to day, which for us has been a challenge we have accepted with open arms.
As 2020 comes to a close, we look forward to all that 2021 has to bring and the new challenges we will face! For now, we will continue to shift as the market does, continue to wear our appropriate protective gear and keep our clients and fellow agents safe! From our office to your home, we wish you happy holidays!
